ABOUT TURNING POINT

Turning Point was founded by three passionate partners. All three individuals serviced families in the community for many years through various schools and social work. When the need arose for access to more services in our area, they created Thumb Area Psychological Services. Turning Point was founded later on in 2014 with the mission of bringing high-quality, evidence-based Autism therapy services to families in our rural community who often face limited access to care. We recognize that many families in these area have to travel long distances or go without essential therapy due to lack of local providers. By opening Turning Point, we aimed to bridge the gap - offering personalized ABA therapy, family support, and resources close to home. Our goal is to ensure that every child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has the opportunity to reach their full potential, no matter where they live, while supporting families through education, collaboration, and compassionate care.

Children with Autism often face a variety of challenges that can impact their daily lives, learning, and relationships. Many children struggle with communication and may have difficulty expressing their needs or understanding others, which can lead to frustration and problematic behaviors such as aggression, self-injury, eloping, and property destruction. Social interactions can also be challenging, making it hard to build friendships or engage in group activities. Additionally, children with ASD may experience difficulties with transitions, changes in routine, or sensory activities that make typical environments overwhelming. For these reasons many of our parents and families do not venture into the community and feel very isolated. Intensive ABA services are essential because they provide structured, individualized support to address these specific needs. Children are also given a safe and supportive environment, where any therapy room may be customized to match their needs and motivation to work through learning. Through consistent, evidence-based interventions, ABA helps children develop critical communication, social, and adaptive skills while reducing challenging behaviors, leading to greater independence and a higher quality of life for both the child and their family.

If you believe your child may have Autism or have recently received a diagnosis, we encourage you to contact our office for a free consultation and tour.
